Perth Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Your Complete Guide to Events, Temple Aartis & Celebrations
By Ashok Prasad | Last Updated: 26 August 2025 | Perth Local
G’day Perth! As I write this from my home in Canning Vale, I can already see the preparations beginning. The aunties in our building WhatsApp group are coordinating modak orders, Spice Mart has started stocking fresh flowers, and there’s that familiar excitement building up. Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 is almost here, and our Perth community is ready to welcome Bappa with open arms!
Living in Perth for the past decade, I’ve watched our Ganesh celebrations grow from small living room pujas to proper community events. Sure, we might be the most isolated city in the world, but that isolation has made our Indian community even tighter. This guide brings together everything you need to know about celebrating Ganpati in Perth – from temple timings to where to find authentic modaks (yes, they exist here!).

Ganesh Immersion in Perth: Eco-Friendly Solutions
Here’s the truth – Perth has NO designated immersion spots. But our community has developed beautiful alternatives:
Temple-Based Immersion
Perth Hindu Temple Solution:
- Date: 5 September 2025, 4:00 PM onwards
- Process: Symbolic immersion in temple’s special tank
- What happens: Temple arranges eco-friendly disposal
- Booking: Register by 3 September
Home Immersion (Highly Recommended)
This is what most Perth families do:
- Fill a large container with water
- Perform complete immersion rituals
- Let clay idol dissolve (24-48 hours)
- Use water for garden (blessed water for plants!)
- Remaining clay goes in compost
Perth Pro Tip: Many use inflatable pools in backyards for a more authentic feel!
Community Symbolic Immersion
Venue: Lake Monger (Symbolic ceremony only)
Date: 5 September 2025, 5:00 PM
Important: NO actual immersion in lake
Process: Prayers at lakeside, then take idols home
Legal Note: Immersing anything in Perth’s natural water bodies is illegal and carries heavy fines.
Getting Around During Festival

Perth’s spread-out nature means planning is essential:
Public Transport:

Parking Strategies:
- Temple parking: Arrive 30 minutes early

Weather Considerations
Perth’s August weather is perfect for celebrations:

FAQs
Is Ganesh Chaturthi a public holiday in Perth?
No. Most devotees fit in a morning or evening aarti around work and school.
What’s the best time for home puja?
Madhyahna on Wednesday, 27 Aug 2025. If that’s tough, morning after sunrise or evening Sandhya aarti works well.
Do I need a permit for immersion?
For temple tanks and organised events, the organisers manage permissions. Home immersion doesn’t need a permit—just follow eco‑friendly steps.
Will there be live streams?
Many temples and community groups livestream evening aarti on Facebook/YouTube during the festival. Check their pages in the week leading up.
What idol size is practical for apartments?
8–16 inches is ideal—easy to carry and perfect for home immersion.
We might not have the grand processions of Mumbai or even the scale of Sydney, but Perth’s Ganesh Chaturthi has its own charm. It’s intimate, personal, and brings our spread-out community together like nothing else.
Whether you’re in Canning Vale’s bustling celebration or a quiet home puja in Joondalup, whether you’re a longtime resident or a recent arrival, Ganpati’s blessings are the same. This year, let’s celebrate sustainably, support each other, and show Perth that our small community has a big heart.
See you at the celebrations, Perth! Let’s make Bappa proud!
